Introduction
Naag Panchami
is the festival of snake people worshipped the god Naag Devta. It is coming in the fifth day of Shravan which is held in July/August, which are reverences for the Cobra are paid.

There is oldest celebration of fast on this days, women are trying to draw the images of snake on this days and also hang on the walls of their houses includes with cowdung, milk and black powder. Which is gives us milk, Ghee, sweets, water and rice which have been preparing at the size of their holes. If the snake had drink the milk which you kept then you are a lucky person as they think. This festival is celebrated as different ways and different part of the India.

There is so many observed in southern India, Maharashtra and Bengal. In Jodhpur, very long cloth effigies of the snake which are displayed at major fairs.

Please don’t Feed milk to snakes:
Naag milk feedingMilk on this auspicious is offered to many snakes. It is done by force. Some even go to extreme levels of feeding them milk and egg near snake pits especially cobras. In some places decorating the snake pitt is also practiced and is known as Puttu or Valmeekam. Snake charmers carry their snake from one village to another and get their snake fed. This should not be encouraged as it is not a healthy practice.

Feeding snakes , Pouring milk in the snake pits and lighting up cracks should be discouraged. This doesn’t help them live but actually kills the snakes. Snakes do not drink milk.

Nagas  should be worshipped to remind yourself that we humans should in harmony with nature. The ideal way of worshipping Nagas is  by protecting our forests and grooves which serve as a home to snakes and other animals.
