The wheel of Time creates the moments, seconds, minutes, hours, days, nights, fortnights, months, equinoxes, years, yugas, manwantaras, kalpas and so on, while the Mahakala (the eternal time), though three fragments of time rise up like waves of sea on his body, Mahakala remains placid and devoid of all movements, without any beginning or end. Mahakala lies at the feet of Mahashakti who remains as the neutral zone of all manifestations in life. She is the eternal cosmic energy. She is worshipped all over India with the same ardour under different names and manifestations-the most benign face of the goddess is Durga. She is Kali. She is Shakti. She is Durga. She is the supreme Goddess of the universe.

The Sanskrit word Durga means a fort or a place that is protected and thus difficult to reach. Durga, also called Divine Mother, protects mankind from evil and misery by destroying evil forces such as selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, and ego.Durga literally means the Remote and Inaccessible Goddess. Shree Durga Ashtottara Shatanamavali Stotram, is the chanting of hundred and eight names of Goddess Durga. Those who daily chant these 108 names of Durga, find nothing impossible in the three worlds.
